PTV MECHANIC

Elliott-Lewis is seeking a PTV Mechanic.  PTV is a Passenger Transportation Vehicle that specifically operates on runways of airports to transport passengers from planes to terminals. These PTVs are diesel vehicles. The PTV Mechanic will inspect, test, repair, and maintain these specialized airport vehicles.

Responsibilities

  • Perform specified basic care and maintenance of these vehicles, including maintaining fluid levels, oil changes, cyclic parts replacement, and tire upkeep.
  • Inspect and diagnose problems on PTVs using both specialized software and also physical inspections.
  • Repair or replace malfunctioning components, parts, and other equipment.
  • For older vehicles, retrofit exhaust systems and replace motor components before they fail.
  • Test-drive these vehicles to ensure that they run smoothly and operate as expected.
  • Communicate with on site management team on the work performed and present status of these specialty vehicles.
  • When needed, assign specific work tasks to work group members to keep vehicles in good order.

 

Required Skills  

  • Experience working on large diesel vehicles such as but not limited to buses, trucks, DOT (Department of Transportation) regulated vehicles, or military vehicles.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of industry experience.
  • Strong organizational, verbal, and written communications skills are required.
  • High school diploma or GED Equivalent

 

Preferred Skills 

  • Certification from National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (NIASE / ASE) greatly valued
  • Experience working with large buses desired but not required to apply.

 

Physical Requirements

  • Consistently Required: Walking, standing, bending, or twisting 
  • Frequently Required:  Bending or twisting, kneeling, crouching, stooping, and crawling. Working with various chemicals 
  • Occasionally Required: Working with arms raised over head.  Max carries 75lbs. Push/pull 40-75lbs.  Exposure to hot and cold temperatures.  Working from or on ladders.  Working at heights.  Exposure to high sound levels.  Operate motorized equipment.
